This 30-minute documentary about the 'black' Venezuelan village of Chuao shows how this isolated community has preserved and adapted its African roots and blended them with Christianity. Its economic base is a cocoa-plantation established in the 16th century. Chuao is famous for the quality of its cocoa and for its typical drums, the cumacos. We follow the ritual cycle of the village, the feasts of San Juan and of Corpus Christi.
